The problem of the estimating of a blow-up time for solutions of Volterra nonlinear integral equation with convolution kernel is studied. New estimates, lower and upper, are found and, moreover, the procedure for the improvement of the lower estimate is presented. Main results are illustrated by examples. In this paper, complete group classification of a class of (1+1)-dimensional generalized quasi-linear wave equations is performed by using the Lie-Ovsiannikov method, additional equivalent transformation and furcate split method. Lie reductions of some truly ‘variable coefficient’ wave equations which are singled out from the classification results are investigated. Some classes of exact solutions of these ‘variable coefficient’ wave equations are constructed by means of both the reductions and the additional equivalent transformations. The nonclassical symmetries to the generalized quasi-linear wave equation are also studied. In the second part we investigate existence, uniqueness and regularity of weak solutions to the associated quasi-linear elliptic equation. In this note we study multivariate perturbations of algebraic equations. In general, it is not possible to represent the perturbed solution as a Puiseux-type power series in a connected neighborhood. For the case of two perturbation parameters we provide a sufficient condition that guarantees such a representation. Then, we extend this result to the case of more than two perturbation parameters. We motivate our study by the perturbation analysis of a weighted random walk on the Web Graph. In an instance of the latter the stationary distribution of the weighted random walk, the so-called Weighted PageRank, may depend on two (or more) perturbation parameters in a manner that illustrates our theoretical development. 相似文献

The ‘tanh-coth expansion method’ for finding solitary travelling-wave solutions to nonlinear evolution equations has been used extensively in the literature. It is a natural extension to the basic tanh-function expansion method which was developed in the 1990s. It usually delivers three types of solution, namely a tanh-function expansion, a coth-function expansion, and a tanh-coth expansion. It is known that, for every tanh-function expansion solution, there is a corresponding coth-function expansion solution. It is shown that there is a tanh-coth expansion solution that is merely a disguised version of the coth solution. In many papers, such tanh-coth solutions are erroneously claimed to be ‘new’. However, other tanh-coth solutions may be delivered that are genuinely new in the sense that they would not be delivered via the basic tanh-function method. In this paper we consider a certain approximation of fixed-points of a continuous operator A mapping the metric space into itself by means of finite dimensional ε(h)-fixed-points of A. These finite dimensional functions are obtained from functions defined on discrete space grid points (related to a parameter h→0) by applying suitably chosen extension operators ph. A theorem specifying necessary and sufficient conditions for existence of fixed-points of A in terms of ε(h)-fixed-points of A is given. A corollary which follows the theorem yields an approximate method for a fixed-point problem and determines conditions for its convergence. An example of application of the obtained general results to numerical solving of boundary value problems for delay differential equations is provided.Numerical experiments carried out on three examples of boundary value problems for second order delay differential equations show that the proposed approach produces much more accurate results than many other numerical methods when applied to the same examples. 相似文献
